Doncaster College
English as a Foreign Language
Our students choose to learn English for many different reasons. Some simply wish to improve their general English, others may wish to do so to access other academic studies and also achieve a prestigious qualification. Some wish to study on a full-time basis and others just for a few hours each week, subject to visa requirements.
We offer English as a Foreign Language courses flexibly at different entry points throughout the year, with accommodation guaranteed to all of our full–time overseas students, if required on our beautiful green field campus.
The Courses
We offer:
A core English as a Foreign Language programme from Elementary level upwards, leading to an I.E.L.T.S. qualification.
The course includes general English, reading and writing skills, English for academic purposes, study skills and I.E.L.T.S. examination preparation.
Our professional staff will ensure that the course is intensive, stimulating and productive. The course comprises the use of a variety of activities, incorporating our on-site, multi-media facilities, film studios and excellent library facilities. These are utilised to maximise the opportunity to practise English in a variety of contexts ranging from business, academic to everyday spoken English.
The student will be individually assessed at the start of the programme and placed in an appropriate group according to their level. Their progress will be closely monitored throughout the course.
Course Hours
The courses are delivered flexibly throughout the year:
For core English there are 19 hours of classroom tuition plus two hours of directed self study per week. Part-time students can access the course at certain times of the week only.
In order to maintain the standard of provision to all students, the minimum duration of the course is 6 weeks at the course leader's discretion.
Accommodation and Facilities
The picturesque campus at High Melton will be the focus of the course. There is a golf course, restaurant, refectory, games rooms, internet café and excellent library facilities on site. Accommodation in on-site student halls of residence is available on request (the current cost being from £52.00 per week for a single study bedroom)
