OMNI College

OMNI College specializes in health care programs that prepare foreign-trained health care professionals for work in Canada and prepare non-native English speakers in specialized medical English programs for work and study in the medical industry.

Located in a bustling suburb of Vancouver, British Columbia, OMNI College has been successfully training internationally-educated nurses for over 10 years.

The College was founded in 1999 by Mr. Ron Burke, who himself is a Canadian Registered Nurse and entrepreneur. He ran several successful healthcare-related businesses before starting the College and continues to share his passion for nursing and education with others.

OMNI is now the only specialized College in Canada that can boast a high success rate of nurses going on to full-time employment in Canada. To date, 95% of OMNI students who have completed the nursing programs have successfully passed their licensing exam in Canada.

We encourage all students who are considering which college to attend to do their due diligence, do the research needed and ask to speak with the school's current students or graduates. Your education is an investment into yourself, and we encourage you to invest the time to research your options before you make a decision. By doing so, we hope that you will come to decide on OMNI. We look forward to welcoming you to OMNI College!

For International Students

If you are an internationally-educated nurse (IEN) wanting to become a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in Canada, the Canadian Nursing Review Program can provide you with the skills required to meet Canadian standards and language in preparation for achieving your nursing license.

This Canadian Nursing Review Program was designed specifically for International Students. The program length is 18 months and is made up of 5 main components:

1. English for Nursing Purposes
2. Canadian Nursing Review
3. SEC/CRNE/CPNRE Test Preparation
4. The Co-Op Education Work Experience (6 months)
5. Leadership in Nursing

1) English for Nursing Purposes (ENP) covers vocabulary, reading, writing, conversation and pronunciation, abbreviations and terminology used in nursing in North America. It also includes specific training to prepare for the English competency tests that are required for Nurse registration in Canada (ie. CELBAN or IELTS).

2) The Canadian Nursing Review and 3) *SEC/CRNE/CPNRE Test Preparation courses teach skill-development, critical-thinking training for nursing judgments, test question approach strategies, and cultural awareness. Students have the opportunity to develop their practical experience during on-site laboratory sessions and test simulations. (*SEC: Substantially Equivalent Competency Assessment, CRNE: Canadian Registered Nurse Examination, CPNRE: Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination)

4) The Co-Op Work Experience is an essential component of the program as students are required to complete nursing hours before they can be granted full registration as a nurse in Canada. Students have the opportunity to complete a co-op work experience at one of Vancouver's hospitals or health care facilities. Nursing procedures vary from country to country, so the work experience offers invaluable training in nursing in a North American health care environment.

5) Leadership in Nursing equips students with much needed entry-level leadership and management skills.

Once completed, successful graduates of this program will be much more confident about working in the Canadian health care environment.
